The session is being attended by foreign ministers from Pakistan, United Kingdom, Germany and Turkey.
Afghan president Hamid Karzai will also attend the conference along with a number of high level government officials.
President Karzai during his speech emphasized on regional cooperation in a bid to secure peace and stability in Afghanistan, and urged the regional nations to further improve cooperation in the region.
In parts of his speech president Hamid Karzai pointed towards the progress regarding the security transition from the NATO troops to Afghan security forces besides emphasizing on good governance and anti-corruption plans by the Afghan government.
In the meantime president Karzai is due to hold talks regarding better governance and the forthcoming presidential election with the members of the Afghan parliament.
President Karzai once again emphasized on the completion of the security transition to Afghan security forces by 2013 and urged the regional nations to assist Afghanistan for securing peace and stability in this country.
The Heart of Asia conference will be held for one day in capital Kabul and the participating members are expected to hold further talks regarding the regional cooperation in their session today.
