In an effort to generate innovation in planning and delivery of development at grass root level, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has come out with a new scheme "One MP - One Idea" under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).
Announcing the new scheme here today, Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation Srikant Kumar Jena said to foster, a grass-root bottoms-up approach to innovation and development and to arrive at solutions for local problems which were sustainable and scalable, there was a need to seek out and campaign for ideas having the potential to overcome challenges.
Accordingly, based on the innovative ideas received from the local people regarding developmental projects, a 'One MP-One Idea' Competition will be held in each Lok Sabha constituency annually and select the three best innovations for cash awards on the request from the MP to promote such a scheme in his/her constituency.
Mr Jena said applications will be invited for innovative solutions pertaining to social issues, especially in areas like education and skills, health, water and sanitation, housing and infrastructure, agriculture, energy, environment, community and social service.
These solutions received will be evaluated in a transparent manner by a panel headed by the DC/DM of the Nodal District and six members drawn from the fields of Engineering, Finance, Health and Sanitation, Academia, Industry and Banking and Financial Institutions.
The MP shall award Certificate of honour along with cash award of Rs 2.5 lakhs, Rs 1.5 lakhs and Rs 1 lakh to the first, second and third best innovative solutions respectively through their MPLAD funds at a Public function.
Besides, a Certificate of appreciation will be given to the next 5 best innovations. He added that the above scheme shall inspire people to find innovative solutions to social and developmental problems. (UNI)
